Language awareness

In this area of work, the Plataforma per la Llengua seeks to raise awareness and promote the use of Catalan. Catalan language is and must be the language of the street, with prestige, identified with fun, opportunities, welcoming... In a nutshell, it must be everyone's language. It is an area which to a large extent underpins many of the activities in which our organisation works.  

The main objective of this area is to create awareness among our country's population of the importance of the social use of Catalan language.

Edition of material to promote and publicise Catalan language.

This refers to posters, leaflets, stickers, bookmarks and tee-shirts promoting our language. These materials, which are distributed all over the Catalan-speaking lands, have a positive effect on the presence of Catalan, in the street, its social use and in strategic areas.

Edition of didactic guidelines.

These materials provide suggestions that may be useful for dealing with everyday situations related to the use of Catalan.

  • "Language rights and justice" A leaflet that seeks to remind us that language rights are part of human rights.
  • "Know your language rights" leaflet Material explaining language rights and what to do when these rights are infringed.
  • "Welcome to Catalonia" leaflet Disseminate Catalan language and culture to new-arrivals and foreigners visiting Catalonia.
  • "What can I do?" Practical guide for promoting the use and presence of Catalan.
  • "What do I do if...? Guide" Some suggestions that may be useful for dealing with everyday situations related to the use of Catalan.
  • "What do I do if...? Guide" Some suggestions that may be useful for dealing with everyday situations related to the use of Catalan (Basque language version).
  • "What do I do if...? Guide" Some suggestions that may be useful for dealing with everyday situations related to the use of Valencian language.

Holding of meetings and events.

Targeting different social sectors with a view to creating awareness and preparing new active agents in favour of Catalan and strengthening the presence of Catalan in places such as the universities, organisations of newcomers, recreation and leisure.

Creation of new support groups for the harmonisation of Catalan.

Creation of new Territorial Plataformes per la Llengua in different towns and cities in our country through contacts with organisations, groups and people that work towards similar objectives to those of the Plataforma per la Llengua.
