BCN Off Track: an alternative tourist guide to Barcelona by Plataforma per la Llengua

Focussed on the neighbourhoods of Sants, Gràcia, Sant Andreu, Barceloneta and Born Sud, and Dreta de l'Eixample, this guide, by Plataforma per la Llengua, the Catalan-language NGO, aims to show a side of Barcelona that is far away from the tourist mainstream. Rather than highlighting the most popular tourist attractions, BCN Off Track aims to bring visitors closer to the city from the perspective of the local people.

The guide suggests taking a trip to neighbourhoods rarely visited by tourists and to areas which are unknown to most people who visit the neighbourhoods with high concentrations of tourists.

It also includes a short list of vocabulary and commonly used expressions in Catalan, allowing users to interact with the locals.

Another of the guide's noteworthy features is a list of restaurants frequented by locals, where tourists can sample typical food from Catalonia in the knowledge that they will be given good-quality products at a reasonable price.
