Rosa de les Neus Marco-Palau, vice-president of the ELEN and a member of the Executive of the Plataforma per la Llengua, submitted a draft resolution regarding the current political situation in Catalonia to the General Assembly on 11 November, which was approved unanimously.

The resolution presents the political situation in Catalonia; it defends the educational system of linguistic immersion in Catalan; it calls upon the European Union to be the guarantor of civil, political and linguistic rights and democracy and also petitions the Spanish State to honour the obligations of the European Union's own treaties.

The 2017 ELEN General Assembly was held in Valencia on November 10 and 11, bringing together representatives of the European organisations that defend and promote linguistic equality in the EU
