FOCIR is a platform comprised of agents from Catalan civil society that participate in international networks. It was created in 1995 by different Catalan associations interested in promoting their international presence and that of Catalonia.

FOCIR's activity is based on three lines of action: networking with other organisations of the Catalan association network to promote a global citizenship, using public diplomacy to explain Catalonia to the world and making sure that Catalonia can impact the actions and interests of players on the international scenario thanks to the international projection of its values and its image.

The Plataforma per la Llengua, keen to globalise the position of Catalan language and have it internationally recognised, has joined forces with other Catalan organisations on this platform with a view to promoting the image of the country and its language abroad.
